Tiger Tale Tidbits ...
The neck of the Serval Cat is elongated, which gives them a giraffe look, while the small, long face resembles a fox at times.

Great news! Tigers For Tomorrow has just recieved a grant from the Folke H. Peterson Foundation in the amount of $50,000 to provide homes for misplaced exotic animals. This grant combined with the grant bestowed from The Daniel Foundation of Alabama will give the organization a good jump on a $400,000 development of the west side preserve. We are very thankful for the support shown by both of these foundations and will keep them and all of you updated on our progress.

Doc
Thanks!
As we look back at 2006 we would like to thank the sponsors and foundations that helped us make it through our first year in Alabama.

We first would like to thank Donny James of James & Company in Collinsville for his donations of recycled wood. His donations of recycled wood have made great den boxes for the Big Cats in their new enclosures. James & Company has also recently donated recycled timbers for the structure of our Children's Pavilion. The completion of this pavilion will provide a place for our education specialist to have formal education programs and for the children attending the park with field trips to have lunch.

For those of you interested in recycled wood products James & Company can be reached at WWW.Jamesandcompany.com. As a side note on April 22, 2007 James & Co. will be hosting an Earth Day event at 600 County Road 209 in Collinsville. We will keep you updated on our site about the event so save the date.

Being new to the area it's always difficult to find sponsors to help promote your cause and provide a site for fundraisers. Tigers For Tomorrow was lucky enough to meet some very special people this year, Markus and Beatrice of Restaurant La Strada in Guntersville. In the past year Markus and Beatrice have organized and held two fantastic fundraisers at their restaurant. La Strada's hosted a wine tasting and a Halloween party with the help of Joanne Puckett and Key Selections, wine importers and distributors. Key Selections was gracious enough to donate wine for auction items to both of these events. With the help of Joanne, Markus and Beatrice we were able to raise over $5000.

Joanne and Key Selections and Judy of Great Spirits in Huntsville organized and coordinated a Wine tasting at Nikko's Japanese Restaurant in Hampton Cove. A special thanks to Nikko's proprietors, for donating the room and appetizers for this event.

This was a fun event for all whom attended even the 6 week old tiger cubs who got to meet new friends. This event raised $3,500 for the operations of Tigers For Tomorrow.

In June 2006, Tigers For Tomorrow rescued 6 cougars and 2 tigers from a sanctuary in Panama City Florida that was closed down. Without the help of two contributors and Siberton Fence in Attalla who donated all 6 temporary holding enclosures to house these animals in we would not have been able to successfully rescue these animals.

We would like to thank Larry Payne and the Etowah County Commission for approving and erecting road signs, enabling visitors traveling from the south to find us.

Grants

In October 2006, Tigers For Tomorrow received a grant from the Folke H. Peterson Foundation for $20,000 to construct a 20 x40 commissary equipped with a walk in Freezer and cooler. The bestowment of this grant was a huge leap forward for us. Up until this time the animal staff was working out of stand up freezers and preparing animal diets in a make shift commissary. This is not an easy task, when you are feeding over 80 animals a day and feeding out over 1500lbs. a week. The construction on the building will be completed in the next month. Once the commissary is completed we will be accepting large donations of meat and vegetables for our animals. These donations will decrease animal food expenses and allow us to redirect some of the funds put aside for food to future rescues. A special thanks to The Folke Peterson Foundation for recognizing our needs and caring about animals.

2007 Sponsors and Grants

Time goes by vwery quickly when youhave over 100 animals to feed, clean up  after and care for so we would like to slow down for a few minutes now and say thank you to the following.

The most recent concert was held on October 12, 13 ,14. This conceret was a Blue Grass Festival called The Harvest Jam in honor of Jon Stuart. This is going to be an annual event so if you missed it this year, watch for next years dates.

Mr. Donald Knapp for his $1000 donation, with which we purchased rubbermaid tubs to keep the tigers cool this summer and for his photography which is featured here on our website, our brochures and some of our shirts.

Wills Creek Winery, which is just down the road a short bit from the preserve. The winery supports Tigers For Tomorrow on a continual basis and it seems that just about as the funds run out thier donation arrives. The winery sells 3 labels of UNTAMED MOUNTAIN wine, anyone visiting the preserve, please stop as you are passing by. The bottle is a keepsake even if you dont drink.

The Daniel Foundation of Alabama- TFT recently recieved a grant from The Daniel Foundation of Alabama to help them develop an additional 8 acres of the carnivore compopund. This funding will help us to begin  clearing areas for enclosures for our 2008 rescues.

The Sharing Foundation of Ft. Pierce,  Florida-for thier donation of $20,000 towards the development of the west side preserve and daily operations of the preserve.

In addition I would like to mention our sponsors of Picnic Tables that are now in place in the Bear Wolf Childrens Pavilion.

First a special thanks to the Ft. Payne High School Ag. Department who made these tables, these are strong and sturdy tables that will provide enjoyment to park visitors for many years to come. GREAT JOB!
